I finally Did It!!!! All 23 things completed!
If at first you don't succeed try, try again. There was a time before this class that I would have been intimidated by not being able to get something to work. Thanks for helping me to become not so technochallenged!

As I reflect on my journey I must admit that I have surprised myself with all the new technology I have learned and attempted to try out. If I hadn't had this experience I would never have learned all of the benefits this technology provides. My own adult children are amazed that I have masted some of the things you have taught me through this process. As I would e-mail my loved ones the things I have learned, I even got a "Mom your use of technology is pretty impressive" Who would of thought! My confidence in using the technology is an area in which I feel I have made the biggest gain. I often was afraid to explore things on the Internet due to virus's and other stuff.. This really limited my exposure to all of the wonderful things that are available in the digital world. I can see me using a lot of which I have learned when I return to school in the fall,. When I had introduced the art of digital storytelling to my students using photos story, their enthusiasm was amazing to wittiness as a teacher. I too have a similar enthusiasm about all of the things that I have learned through these 23 Things. I hope that I will be able to inspire my colleagues to take a risk on some of these wonderful tools that we have access to. Thank-you for creating such a course as 23 Things!

I chose to make a wiki that I could use right know as I prepare for my journey on the Breast Cancer 60 mile 3 day walk.
http://http://breastcancer3day.wikispaces.com/
When I get back to school I plan on creating a wiki to use for agendas for our EPT's (educational planning team ) meetings.
Creating the wiki was fun and I can see me using this resource on a regular basis. I feel the biggest difference with the wiki versus the blog is that you can edit as you go and your just not responding to another persons words. It it a very collaborative tool that I feel would be a real time saver. I can even see me using it with my family to coordinate gatherings. Wiki takes communication to a whole new level.

I was introduced to wiki thorough my Galileo experience in learning how to do photo story . I have the wiki Tech.know on my favorites list and use it often. It was interesting to learn all the things that can be done using wiki. I think I am going to try to set up a wiki to coordinate my team that is walking for the 60 mile breast cancer event. We have been using email and I would like to give this a try. The only hurdle I see is having to teach others to become familiar with this concept . Once they get to understand the concept I think it would make life a little easier. I can see this being an effective tool in creating agendas for educational planning team meetings. Participants could add to the agenda, comment on it and be prepared for our weekly meetings. I think the hurdle of educating others would definitely be worth the fight!

The world of podcasts is an unbelievable resource. I am amazed that their were so many podcasts to chose from. Who would of thought? I had some difficulty navigating around the itune site, however once I figured out where I needed to be I was fine. I even found a resource tool on their site about FAQ's about podcasting that had a lot of good information. I was a little nervous about downloading it to my computer but overcame it in order to complete Thing 20.

I enjoyed exploring the world of podcasts. The 2 links I chose were ones that I was impressed with. The Link for Think like a leader I found interesting as it made me think of my days in the Galileo Leadership Consortium. The student link by Aaron is all about what students believe and I think it is wonderful for our youth to stand and speak up for what they believe in.

I am feeling a little frustrated. I wasn't able to create an account for slideshow. I attempted to do it 20 times I would get to the final page and it would send me back to the original sign in page. I attempted to try and embed a slide show, I found a really neat one set to the tune of Yesterday however it wouldn't let me embed because it didn't recognize my Blog.
Any suggestions would be welcomed! I will try it again tonight just to see if it was a just me being technochallenged!
I attempted to load another slideshow from this site today July 23 and when I tried to embed the video it would say error on page. Any suggestions? I tried the video There was an Old Lady That swallowed a Fly.

Give a review of the tool you explored - what worked, what didn't work, how might it be used in your personal or professional life?
I tried something new today! I tried Don't Forget The Milk. It was easy enough to set up an account. I always have a list going for the day and week so I was excited to give this site a try. I don't know if it would work for me personally because I don't have Internet access at my fingertips. Perhaps that might be a reason to purchase an I-phone!
I think I will give it a try when I go back to school thought because I am always on the computer and it might keep me organized.

Google Doc's is something that would be great to use in my professional life. Staff could edit the information on students current reading level and it could be something that we then could talk about at our weekly collaboration meetings. Staff would have the data ahead of time to review. This also could be used as we coordinate transportation for our students. The spread sheet again could be edited as needed and all information is shared in a organized and timely matter. This is something I can see using with staff but not students.
Thing 15
Yes RSS is becoming easier to understand however I an only see me using it on a personal level not professional. It is easier then typing and goingto the Detroit Free Press website daily. I do check the Detroit Free Press feed daily but to be honest it is the only one I do .

My Delicious user name is technochallenged. I try to keep things simple so I don't forget who I am ! So many user names and passwords to remember!
I don't know if bookmarking will be relevant in my teaching on a day to day basis however, it is a good tool to use to keep things organized as I explore the web. Thanks for having us create an account I would have never explored this on my own.

Lucky Thing 13!
Wow I really am technochallenged, I just discovered how to do favorites about 6 months ago.
Who would ave known about Delicious! Technology is amazing!
Tagging would be great so that I could take the time to find sites at home but tag them and access them at school via the social bookmark. Who thinks of such wonderful creations? What a organized way to categorize research websites.

This was a fun thing! It didn't take me that long to figure out what I was doing. This class must be working. I was always wondering how people got their widgets. I chose the breast cancer awareness since it seems that I am living and breathing and talking about breast cancer as I prepare for the 60 mile 3 day walk coming up in August. It is amazing to me how many people have been touched by cancer. The stories I have heard on this journey so far are incredible.
My heart and prayers go out to all who have been affected by this disease.

Comments are an interesting thing to me. I loved when I got a comment on my blog! I never thought someone would care to read what I wrote. or would want to know how I think in response to something they had written on a blog. However my views are changing. I think comments provide a form of feedback. It helps to validate thoughts or it is interesting to get another persons perspective.
I think it would be a great way for students to get feedback in regards to their writing. Through this process I think students would feel encouraged and in the process become better writers.

KeepVid: Download and save any video from Youtube, Dailymotion, Metacafe, iFilm and more!
I was a little intimidated in doing thing 10. I wasn't so sure this was going to work. I thought it would look different on my Blog page. I chose the video Cinderella by Steven Curtis Chapman because it has a great message. We all at times get so busy with 'Life" things that we often don't the time to remember what or who in our lives are important. It is so true that we take for granted that loved ones will always be there. Sometimes there is another plan and it just isn't to be. So I hope you enjoy the video as much as I did.

The You Tube ! I enjoyed the teacher tube, I could see where it would be useful to share in the classroom. I am not sure if You Tube is allowed on our districts web site. That will be something that I will check out in September. I have mixed feelings about You Tube. I think kids would get lost in all of the "junk" sites and I am a little paranoid about students stumbling upon inappropriate material. Perhaps for older students it would be better. I am feeling a little like a prude in addition to being Technochallenged!

This was fun to do! This could be addicting. I could see myself creating all sorts of things. As I was at the sites I was trying to see how I could incorporate these great tools in my classroom. They might really be an incentive for students to use at the conclusion of a unit of study. The possibilities are endless. I could also see myself using these sites for presents for my family! The mash up links were a lot of fun too! I liked the color one the best. Learning could be a lot of fun using these.
I wasn't sure if I did this posting the correct way. I didn't know if the magazine cover was supposed to show however, by clicking on the link one can get there.
Thanks for gettting me to come out of my comfort zone and having me to explore new things!

Thing 7
I think I am finally getting the hang of this. Thing 6 was fun and I think my learning is sinking in because I am beginning to feel less "technochallenged". I am amazed as the technology that is out there that I never even know existed. Thank-you for providing me with this fantastic opportunity.
Copyright laws are something I do worry about however, I think that it isn't a reason not to explore and utilize this technology.
Thing 6

That was pretty easy. I had never heard of Flickr before today. I can see my students using this site to encourage them to illustrate their writing. It would also be great to use as a writing prompt. As we all know, it is easier to write about things that interest you. What a great resource to use to capture a students interest.
I chose this picture because I am participating in the 3 day
60 mile walk for breast cancer. Our team name is Butterfly Effect. When I saw this picture of the butterfly and a pink flower it made a connection to my journey that I am about to undertake.
